Online PT Starter Kit

I've broken down each step into 5 different sections below.
Chances are you're already doing one or two parts.
Identify which one you're missing and work on those first ASAP.

What We're Building

The five-step funnel to help you get clients online.

1. Socials

Content that solves a specific problem — one you're good at solving and have authority in.

2. Lead Magnet

Offer a free resource that helps solve their problem — in exchange for an email address.
e.g. training plan for elderly with knee pain

3. Squeeze (Opt-In) Page

The page where people input their email address to get the lead magnet.

4. Email Marketing

An avenue to sell to / nurture leads through daily emails, away from the crowded place that is social media.

5. Sales Page

A simple menu:
→ What you offer
→ What they get
→ How they pay
Close clients without sales calls.

How to create reels that
solve people's problems

Deciding What To Post (ie what problems you're gonna solve)

  • List down 10 problems your ideal client goes through.
  • and/or think about 3 things you constantly repeat to your clients — those are the problems you're best at solving.
  • If you can't think of it — save all your WhatsApp chats with clients, upload the files into Claude and use this prompt:
"I need help with finding the 3 most repeated things I say to my clients from these chats, for context — I am trying to find 3 topics to build my content around."

Before you start filming...

What are you like as a person? Deadpan? Empathetic? Cockster?
That's exactly how you're gonna be when you script your content and talk on camera.

  • Who is your FAVOURITE clients - have them in mind when you're filming
  • Don't try to impress your peers or worry about offending them (they don't pay you)
  • Use primary 5 language explain your points - the easier the lament can understand the better.
  • Let your personality come across - no one can compete with you at being you.
Tips if you're struggling with talking in front of camera:
- imagine you're talking to your best friend, the one you feel most comfortable with
- put a picture of them behind the camera
- listen you music that puts you at ease / loosens you up before hitting record
01

Step 1 of 5

Hook (1–3s)

Stop the scroll — open with the problem about the topic you've found, highlight the pain and make it about THEM.

Example — calorie tracking "If tracking calories gives you a bigger headache than your spouse.."

Use/include different hook types:

Caption hook

Either highlight how it helps them OR how they might lose out

Caption hook reel example

Visual hook

Use physical props — shows effort, stands out from lazy content that only uses images

Visual hook reel example

Verbal hook

Spoken in the first 1–3 seconds — combines with caption and visual

Verbal hook reel example

Pro tips

  • Include some movement in the first few seconds to keep the eyes busy — e.g. standing still vs walk into frame
  • Hooks that reference money tend to draw more attention
02

Step 2 of 5

Setup (4–6s)

Give them a reason to keep watching — "tease" the solution that solves the problem.

Example — calorie tracking "but it's only because you're not doing this one thing (your solution).."
The "tease"
Setup tease example

Pro tip — negativity bias

Negative hooks have a bigger emotional impact because we all have a negativity bias.

❌ "let me tell you how your money can be better spent"
✅ "sorry to say you might be wasting your money"
03

Step 3 of 5

Context (6–20s)

Give context on the problem — empathise, don't judge. That's how you build trust.

Example — calorie tracking "Most people stress because they obsess over every calorie, like logging the extra kang kong leaf you picked off your spoon."
Context step reel example

"Because while Greek style yoghurt is half the price of Chobani — it also has double the calories per serving. And not just that — it also has half the amount of protein."

Pro tip

Be detailed but don't overexplain — remove redundant words.

❌ "How I overcame and got out of the situation"
✅ "How I got out of the situation"
04

Step 4 of 5

Solution (20–30s)

Give a specific and actionable takeaway — good litmus test: can they do it that same day? This is where you build authority.

Example — calorie tracking "Instead of logging every single dish at a big meal, use the 'quick add' function on MyFitnessPal, input a higher amount of calories than your usual meals (>200 calories more)."
Solution step reel example

"While Chobani is almost double the price, you're also getting double the protein for half the calories (compared to Greek Style Yoghurt)"

Pro tip — be specific

❌ Vague: "do a 1 hour training session every week"
✅ Specific: "Do 6 movements every week — horizontal pull, horizontal push, vertical pull, vertical push, hinge, squat"
05

Step 5 of 5

Payoff (30–40s)

Close the loop — link the solution back to the problem so they can leave with a win. This is where people decide to follow you.

Example — calorie tracking "This removes the stress, helps you plan your other meals more intentionally, and you can enjoy quality time during social meals like you should."
Payoff step reel example

"For an additional $6 — which is the price of an overpriced cup of Chagee — you're still getting a better deal with Chobani in terms of protein to calorie ratio."

Pro tip

  • End with a joke or catchphrase (don't force it tho lol) — something that speaks to your personality
  • People remember a video usually for something completely unrelated to the topic, because we remember the way someone made us feel

What To Avoid When Creating Your Lead Magnet

After watching

Quick-start checklist

Pick a format → create the asset → set up delivery. Three steps, nothing else.

Email Marketing

What to write, how to structure it, and how to set up an automation that works while you sleep.

As a general rule of thumb - you should have 20% of your following on your mailing list.

i.e if you have 1000 followers, you should have 200 subscribers on your mailing list.

If you don't have that yet, your focus for content should be driving this number up (adding CTAs to your posts/stories for your lead magnets to collect email addresses)

Anatomy of a Converting Email

How to write an email that sends people to your website.

Golden Rule

Write about something that has nothing to do with what you're selling.

  • Write about something that happened during the day that your reader can relate to — getting cut off in traffic, your aunty getting your coffee order wrong
  • The story has to have a lesson or point you're trying to make
  • Relate the lesson back to what you're selling
01

Subject Line

Treat this like the hook of a video — it's what grabs someone's attention.

  • Address the reader — more "you", less "I"
  • Negative connotation > positive connotation
Example "The pains of being in your 30s"
02

Opening Sentence

Address the reader by name right away. Use your platform's personalisation shortcut to insert their first name.

  • Open with a question or statement addressed directly to the reader to spark intrigue
  • Keep it short — move them to the next sentence as fast as possible
Example "You know whatever people say about being in your 30s {{First Name}}.."
03

Context — Give them the story

Be specific. Details make it real and relatable.

  • Time and place: "Earlier today I was having lunch at Amoy Street.."
  • What happened: "I was looking forward to having my favourite fish soup.."
  • Tension: "but to my horror.. IT WAS CLOSED.."
04

Resolution — Close the loop

Tie the story back to what you're selling. Natural, not forced.

  • "I was bummed but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise.."
  • "Because I got to try the wanton mee that I had wanted to for a while now.."
  • Relate back to your offer: "Point is, sometimes getting something we didn't expect could just be what we need.. like signing up for my coaching program today."

Setting Up Your Automation

Follow tutorials so you can set up automations to send out your lead magnet the moment someone subscribes.

MailerLite

Best for budget-conscious solopreneurs. Good automation on the free tier.

Kit (ConvertKit)

Built for creators. Free up to 10k subs (broadcasts only).

Mailchimp

Most widely used. Good for beginners and integration-heavy setups.

GoHighLevel

All-in-one CRM + email + funnels. Overkill for most PTs but powerful if you're scaling.

Landing Page Template

Six sections. Fill in the blanks. In that order.

1

[Specific outcome] in [timeframe].

Optional one-liner subheadline that handles the #1 objection or adds urgency.

Lead with the result, not the process Be specific — "3 months" beats "soon" Nod to the guarantee early
Example "Fit into your old clothes in 3 months. Or your money back."
2

VSL = Video Sales Letter. A short video of you talking to camera. Think of it like this: a friend's friend you just met at dinner asked you what you do — chill, no pressure, just sharing how you can help.

▶ Embed your VSL here (Vimeo / Loom / YouTube)
3

Answer "so what is this, exactly?" before they have to ask.

3–5 points max No buzzwords Each line = one clear idea
4

Actual things they receive. Not vibes.

Specificity = credibility Spell out the medium (call, PDF, WhatsApp, video)
5
🛡 30-day money-back guarantee. If you've done the work and haven't seen results in the first 30 days, I'll refund you in full — no questions asked. I've had [X] refunds from [Y] clients. Make of that what you will.
Disclose your refund rate — honesty is the differentiator Remove friction objections upfront
6

Embed your Stripe pricing table here. Keep 2–3 tiers max.

WEEKLY

$XX

per week

Best value

3 MONTHS

$XXX

one-time

MONTHLY

$XXX

per month

Anchor with highest price first Make best-value option visually obvious Each tier = same thing, different billing
6

Show, don't tell. Real evidence from real people.

  • 📸 Transformation pictures — before/after photos are the single most persuasive thing you can show
  • 💬 Screenshots of messages from clients — WhatsApp, DMs, emails. Raw and unpolished beats polished and staged
  • 🚫 Avoid video testimonials — too long, people skip them. We want to move people down the page fast
Real > polished Specificity builds trust Keep them moving down the page

If you're using Leadpages, I built this prompt builder that you can paste into its AI builder — it'll come up with the skeleton of your landing page.

⚠ You will definitely still have to make changes to the body.
